Game Night at Home
Here I am at day number 50 of staying home under California’s stay at home order. One thing I’ve really been enjoying with this unexpected extra free time at home is playing even more games with Nate. Since we can’t be out adventuring in nature right now, we have been playing ALL the games at home together…and I’m excited to share some of our favorites with you.
My top five favorite games…
1. Scattergories
2. Mad Gab
3. Yahtzee
4. Bingo
5. 399 Games, Puzzles & Trivia Challenges
As I’m sure you could guess from looking at the above list, I love any type of word game…so Scattegories and Mad Gab are easy pics for me. Years ago when Nate and I were on our first cruise together, we entered a Bingo tournament on a whim…and we won! I’ve been hooked on this game ever since. My newest obsession is the Brain Games book (listed at #5 above). Nate and I can get quite competitive, so it’s fun to work on solving puzzles and brain teasers together as teammates…we play at least a page or two every night before bed to keep our minds active…also it’s a lot of fun!
I also asked Nate to share five of his favorite games that we play…
1. Monopoly
2. Ticket to Ride
3. Bob Ross Art of Chill
4. Spot It (MLB Edition)
5. Scrabble
The very first board game Nate and I ever played together was Dodger Monopoly, and when we were dating we would stay in touch while playing Words with Friends on our iPhones, so Scrabble is a natural choice. Nate received both Spot It and Bob Ross Art of Chill as gifts, and they have become a big hit around our house.
I also want to include a few of our favorites that require more than two people. We can’t wait until this current social distancing is over so we can host a good old fashioned game night at our house.
1. Apples to Apples
2. Settlers of Catan
3. Loaded Questions
4. Imaginiff..
5. Concept
Thanks for checking out some of our favorite games, and for more information see my Behind the Blog video below. Until next week, I hope you find adventure and encouragement in every game you play!
