Hotel Casa Fuster Fun

Nate and I were so excited to embark on our Mediterranean cruise in May. While we have cruised together many times before, we had never traveled to Europe together, so this trip was extra special. We decided to fly to Spain a little early so we could experience a bit of Barcelona before getting on our ship for a week.

When looking for a hotel we knew we would like to stay some place central and close to all the food and fun Barcelona has to offer. We also love experiencing the history of a place, and that’s when we discovered Hotel Casa Fuster.

Built in 1908, famous Catalan architect Lluis Domènech Montaner designed Casa Fuster for Mariano Fuster, who gifted it to his wife. At the time of its construction, Casa Fuster was considered the most expensive house ever built in the city.

After nearly a century of changing hands multiple times, Hoteles Center acquired the building and carefully renovated the property. In 2004 this five-star hotel opened its doors and has been delighting guests ever since.

There are so many things to love about Hotel Casa Fuster. From the moment I walked through the front doors onto the classic red carpet I was met with the most welcoming and caring personal service.

Nate and I were given a lovely room on the fourth floor with a lovers nook, a beautiful two person balcony constructed for people watching the sunset over 100 years ago. Nate and I loved looking out at the beautiful bustling city below.

Our room was a wonderful mix of classic touches with the best modern amenities. I loved the super comfy bed and great pillows. The bathroom was divine. It was fresh and bright with a giant soaking tub and separate rainfall shower. It was the extra little touches, like the fresh cut flowers in our room and the lovely Chopard toiletries, that made our space feel so special.

The staff was incredibly helpful our whole trip. At one point we asked where we could grab some quick authentic local tapas, and they had the perfect suggestion and directions ready for us. I would also recommend the hotel’s Panot Restaurant for some delicious traditional Catalan cuisine or their Jazz Club for the best live jazz music.

My favorite space in the whole building has to be the Mirador Blue View Terrace. The grand sweeping rooftop views are stunning, and the terrace has earned a reputation as one of Barcelona’s hottest nightlife spots. Blue View’s rooftop pool feels like an oasis in the middle of this bustling city, and I didn’t want to leave it.

If you’re looking for something a bit more low-key, Hotel Casa Fuster offers a unique reading room. This beautiful space is perfect for the book lover who wants to relax in a quiet space with a good read.

There are so many special spots all over the hotel, from the conference and event spaces to the wedding and banquet areas. They have a nice exercise area and even an indoor outdoor zen garden where you can sit back and relax.

Casa Fuster can stand alone on its beauty, but the fact that it’s located so close to some of Barcelona’s many attractions put it over the edge. The day we arrived we were able to walk to La Sagrada Familia, and we even enjoyed local gelato on our way back to the hotel. The hotel is also within walking distance of Park Güell and Arc de Triomf…both of which we enjoyed on our visit (I’ll tell you all about it in a post soon 😉).

While we were truly excited to start our cruise, we were sad to leave Hotel Casa Fuster and are already looking forward to our next stay!
