Firefall Ranch Yosemite - NEW Luxury Hotel (Full Property Review)
Hi friends! This week I’m back up in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and I’m so excited to share a brand new luxury resort just outside of Yosemite National Park. Join me below as we enjoy a relaxing and serene stay at Firefall Ranch, one of the premier hotel stays near the park.
Location
Firefall Ranch recently had its grand opening in Spring 2024, and it’s truly unlike any other hotel stay in the area. Located only 20 minutes from the Big Oak Flat Entrance of Yosemite National Park, the property is conveniently located along Highway 120 near the town of Groveland. The property sits on 300 acres of meadowland and forested foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and although the resort is brand new, this location is historic, once serving as a stop along the original stagecoach route to Yosemite in the 1870s.
Property Overview
Firefall Ranch is owned and was built by long-time local contractor Robert Boyer in partnership with the Chicken Ranch Rancheria Me-Wuk Indians of California, who have historic ties to these lands. Boyer was also instrumental in expanding the nearby Evergreen Lodge and building Rush Creek Lodge & Spa further down the highway. These 3 sister properties make up the First Light Resorts collection, each providing guests a “destination within a destination”, offering truly unique experiences and lodging options just outside the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Firefall Ranch features 55 standalone cottages and villas spread throughout the vast property, allowing guests to enjoy a secluded, nature-forward getaway without the hustle and bustle often experienced at other large resorts.
Cottages
Firefall Ranch has a few different Cottage variations, including both one and two bedroom options. This week I’m staying in one of the fabulous Two Bedroom Cottages. These standalone and spacious 700 square foot cabins offer a luxurious experience without sacrificing the ambiance of a rustic mountain getaway. With two bedrooms, this is perfect for 2-4 guests. The smaller yet still roomy guest room just off the foyer features a lovely queen bed, and there’s also variations of this cottage that have two twin beds in this room, which is perfect for a family traveling with a couple kiddos. The primary bedroom and living quarters offer an exquisite retreat for guests, featuring a luxurious king bed and relaxing seating area. Historic artwork adorns the walls of this thoughtfully designed space, and the vaulted ceilings with floor to ceiling windows create an airy and expansive experience.
One of my favorite features though might just be the indoor/outdoor gas fireplace! I love how it connects the elegant interior with the private covered patio just outside. This outdoor space is lovely, and it’s perfect for an early morning sunrise while enjoying a warm drink and looking for wildlife.
Each cottage also includes a mini fridge, microwave oven, and Kuerig coffee brewer, allowing guests to enjoy a late-night snack or early morning pick-me-up right from the comfort of your cabin.
Villas
If you’re planning a large family vacation or getaway, Firefall Ranch’s Three Bedroom Villas make a perfect retreat. These expansive 1450 sq ft standalone cabins comfortably accommodate 4-8 guests with a primary bedroom featuring a king bed, a second bedroom with a queen bed, and a stunning spiral staircase leading up to a spacious loft with two twin beds. The large living room, complete with a queen sofa bed and a cozy gas fireplace, invites you to relax and unwind. Enjoy the convenience of a kitchenette with a breakfast nook and two full bathrooms enhanced with heated floors. Step outside to a private deck that offers breathtaking nature views, ideal for morning coffee or evening gatherings. Modern amenities such as air conditioning, in-room Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker, and a Keurig coffee brewer ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Embrace the blend of privacy and communal spaces, making unforgettable memories at Firefall Ranch’s Villas.
Dining
There are multiple dining options at Firefall Ranch, providing guests a wide range of delicious menu items throughout the day. The Restaurant menu is a tribute to the executive chef’s Patagonian roots, blending high-quality, grass-fed ingredients with the region's meditative landscape. Each dish is a unique culinary experience, meticulously curated to showcase her heritage and culinary journey, offering an international flair with a California twist. From squid ink puff pastries to grilled Mediterranean sea bass, the menu promises a rich, flavorful, and unforgettable dining experience.
The indoor and outdoor Tavern provides a more traditional fare with a stylish twist, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And if you’re looking for something quick and easy, grab something to-go at the General Store, which has freshly made breakfast items, sandwiches, sweet treats, and coffee drinks. Here you’ll find a gift shop with all kinds of souvenires, books, and sundry items for guests to take advantage of during their stay.
On-Site Activities
The proximity to Yosemite National Park is an incredible draw to those staying at Firefall Ranch, however guests have an abundance of options here on property when it comes to family friendly activities. Visitors are treated with a large saltwater swimming pool with hot tubs, complimentary cruiser bicycles for exploring the grounds (something I enjoyed everyday of my stay), plentiful outdoor games, a natural pond, picnic benches & hammocks, and lovely nature trails to explore. They are even developing a world-class disc golf course, which will be sprawling across the vast property within the next couple months. Special daily activities are also available to enjoy throughout the week, including kids crafts, bingo, trivia, gold excavations, ranger talks, and nightly s’mores!
Rush Creek Spa
One luxurious amenity offered to Firefall Ranch guests is actually available 15 miles down the road at a sister property located just outside the Yosemite entrance gate. Treat yourself after a day of relaxation with a visit to the award-winning Spa at Rush Creek Lodge. The indoor and outdoor spa is designed with innovative features inspired by Yosemite's stunning natural beauty. Experience the Rush Creek Spa with a day pass that immerses you in the natural beauty of Yosemite, including the Aromatherapy Steam Room infused with eucalyptus and lemongrass, the Himalayan Salt Block Sauna, and the invigorating Cool Mist Shower. Relax in the Sensory Room or enjoy the Warm Waterfall Coves, reminiscent of sitting under a waterfall. The award winning Rush Creek Spa offers wellness and tranquility and dont forget to enhance your visit with skincare treatments, massage therapy and more!

Know Before You Go
• Firefall Ranch offers dog-friendly accommodations. These "Doggie Daily" rates include up to 2 dogs for an additional $85 per night & include complimentary dog beds, water bowls and spacious pet crates. Select dog foods, treats and toys are also available for purchase in the General Store.
• While the property is fully open, new amenities are continually being added. During my recent stay, an outdoor rock climbing wall had just opened and a miniature golf course was currently being constructed.
• If you are planning to visit Yosemite National Park, please remember you still need to make park entrance reservations. Through October 27th, 2024, Yosemite National Park requires entrance reservations to drive into the park between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. during peak hours. Reservations are available on Recreation.gov. Exceptions include visitors heading into Hetch Hetchy, with lodging, camping, or wilderness permits inside the park, as well as those with commercial tours or arriving by public transit. Entering outside peak hours (before 6 a.m. or after 4 p.m.) does not require a reservation. Plan to enter the park early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid long entrance wait lines.
• Although cell service is spotty in this region, Firefall Ranch offers free Wi-Fi for guests throughout the property.
• Always check the official NPS website for the most up-to-date road conditions, air quality, and possible closures prior to visiting Yosemite National Park.
Above & Beyond Customer Service
As someone who worked in the service industry both during and after college, I’m always incredibly appreciative of those working in this field. During my recent stay, there were so many staff members who went above and beyond to make my visit special, and I’m confident you’ll experience the same high level of customer service on your trip. If you happen to come across any of the following individuals during your stay, please make sure to say hi and show them your appreciation. I truly wish I had captured everyone’s names so I could thank them personally.
